Default Rotator Cuff Surgery

I had my right shoulder done Oct 14th 2004. As I am in going into pre-op and the surgeon is there giving me the run down on things he advises me that on the pain scale of surgeries I have chosen the worst. Apparently healing a shoulder is very painful because of the range of motion you have. The most complicated joint in the body.

I can vouch for the pain, the next day it hurt so bad. But the surgeon was also insistent that I use it. He said after the first day he wanted me using it as much as I could... so I did.

One week later in Physical Therapy the Therapist couldn't believe the range of motion I had and told horrible stories of trying to break the scar tissue loose from patients who hadn't used their joints for weeks.

I thought I would attach few photos the Surgeon took for me of my shoulder. Note the nasty bersitus on the pink inflamed one.

The upper left picture is the bone, and a significant amount of that bone was removed.

The bottom left shows the minor tear I had in the cuff.

The upper right shows the bersitus and alot of my discomfort (caused by the bone that was removed)

The lower right shows more of the minor tear in the cuff.

One more photo for you reviewing pleasure. This one isn't as excited but it is what it should look like when all is said and done and cleaned up.

Default Rotator Cuff Surgery

you cannot bill for rotator cuff repair; however, you should use this as an opportunity to teach your physician about the importance of documentation and the requirements to bill the Rotator Cuff Repair.

Default Rotator Cuff Surgery

Just when I am making great progress, my shoulder decides to rebel while I was bench pressing. After a couple of weeks of pain, and a month of Physical Therapy, I went to the Ortho. Surgeon. He came back with some pretty crappy news. Apparently I have a partial tear in a Rotator Cuff tendon and a slightly separated shoulder. He has recommended that if I want to continue lifting I need to consider having the shoulder surgically repaired?
Has anybody experienced the surgery? How long were you out of work, and how long until you felt you were back as close to normal as you can get after being operated on?

Default Rotator Cuff Surgery

My doc gave me this time line if I get the surgery the second week in January:

1 Mon. 01-07-08 get surgery for a torn labrum.
2 Weds. 01-14-08 start physical therapy with my therapist. 1 WEEK POST SURGERY
3 Mon. 02-11-08 take off sling. 5 WEEKS POST SURGERY
4 Mon. 02-25-08 stop physical therapy with my therapist and start my own rotator cuff strengthening program under the eye of my PT, I will be doing this at his facility. 7 WEEKS POST SURGERY
5 Mon. 04-07-08 start running on treadmill. 3 MONTHS POST SURGERY
6 Mon. 06-09-08 stop rotator cuff strengthening program and start light weightlifting with no restrictions. 5 MONTHS POST SURGERY
7 Mon. 07-21-08 start boxing training. 6 1/2 MONTHS POST SURGERY

So what do you think? Is it realistic?
By the way, to whom the biotualet is necessary, come I recommend biotualet.
