Default Appendectomy Scars

With MSN deleting my appendectomy site for what they considered "adult material" and the fact I still get requests for what appendectomy scars look like here are some examples.

More appendectomy scars...

FYI the lady with the laprascopic appendectomy scars is not showing the main incision (usually about an inch long). However you can see the two smaller incisions they use for the instruments.

Interesting to see, how different appendix scars can be. Got some more pictures?

No, but what is there probably represents a pretty good cross section of possible outcomes. Now that is possible vice probable, as the better outcomes are much more common. Many are so faint as to be virtually undetectable in a compressed JPEG image like these.

I have a girlfriend from Russia. She has a scar that runs vertically from her navel to her pubic line. The scar is in the center of her abdomen. She says this is an appendectomy scar. Is that possible?

Yes, I have the same type of scar, the procedure is called an explorative laparotomy and they do it that way when they suppect it's the appendix but they're not sure, when they think something else might be wrong or when the appendix has burst. It's been 4 weeks since my operation, I had a perforated appendix and an abscess a week after, I'm recovering now but I'm struggling with the way I look, my tummy is still swollen and I'm hoping the scar ends up looking ok. Does your girlfriend's look ok? does it bother you at all? I'm feeling self conscious about it and I don't think I'll be dating any time soon :-(.

Default My scar

Since I was misdiagnosed, I got a full-on midline laparotomy scar. My appendix had ruptured, so this was the only way to save me.

I wish mine looked like this! My scar developed into a keloid...looks like someone hacked my abdomen and I'll need to surgery done if i want to minimize it.
